Personal Advisers
Personal Advisers need personal support. As the only specialist trade union for personal advisers, CYWU seeks to give as much close personal support to its members as personal advisers seek to give to young people themselves. The skills demanded in this work are of the highest order, yet despite a developing framework of nationally of recognised qualification, terms and conditions remain locally determined and there is a lack of professional parity. Given the speed of the development of this still relatively new profession, there is a great deal of support the union can give in negotiating the best structures of management and supervision for staff at work, proper health and safety neasures, and the best forms of qualification and training. CYWU has already worked in partnership with a range of agencies and Connexions services to provide training and support for personal advisers. This profession is here to stay and needs recognition, investment and permanent professional status.
