CYWU has secured two years funding through the English Trade Union Learning Fund to provide expert training for Branches. Three years of quality training provision co ordinated by CYWU Training Officer Jackie Wyatt has seen the Union become the biggest provider of in service training in the sector. Now this expertise can be focused on our Branch members and Officers and the new professional groups joining the Union.
Our partners in managing this work will also bring considerable new opportunities to us, these are The Partnership at Work Project, the Learning and Skills Councils in the Black Country, Kent and Medway, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire and Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Northern College (the adult education and trade union college) SPRITO the National Training Organisation for Playwork and the Joint National Committee on Training for Playwork.
General Secretary Doug Nicholls commented: “The Trade Union Learning Fund is a superb government iniative. Given the central importance of our members’ work to government agendas this boost to our learning capacity will be very cost effective. I hope that all Branches will access the Union’s new training services over the course of the coming year and that NEC members will promote these new opportunities. We need to ensure that all Branches have Learning Representatives to cascade down to those providing lifelong learning opportunities for others, lifelong learning opportunities for themselves.”
The training section of the website will be updated soon and will be regularly updated and revised.
