Community work compacts - essential for all members
Posted on Wednesday, October 31, 2001
All members, whether directly employed as community workers or play workers or youth workers will need to be fully aware of the governments new set of compacts for volunteering and community work.
Speaking in support of the new Code of Good Practice for volunteering at the recent Volunteer Centre Conference, Doug Nicholls urged all voluntary organisations to recognise that the government expected a range of rights and clear expectations to be available to all volunteers and that volunteering for diversity was the order of the day.
Compacts on Black and Minority Ethnic Voluntary and community Organisations, on Funding and Volunteering set out a framework for more regulation and responsible fair treatment in our sector.
